Industry Exposure Day with the Food Industries Association at the Carasso FoodTech Innovation Center

The Carasso FoodTech Innovation Center hosted the Professional Committee of the Food Industries Association at the Manufacturers’ Association of Israel for an exposure day dedicated to strengthening academia–industry collaboration. The visit included presentations on the Center’s activities, FoodForward, Technion collaboration channels, and innovation in food processing technologies, followed by a tour of the Center’s facilities and networking with Faculty researchers.
The Carasso FoodTech Innovation Center was pleased to host the Professional Committee of the Food Industries Association at the Manufacturers’ Association of Israel for an exposure day dedicated to strengthening collaboration between the food industry, the Technion, and the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Engineering.
The day opened with remarks by Prof. Esti Segal, Dean of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Engineering, who invited industry representatives and members of the Association to deepen their collaboration with the Technion, the Faculty, and the Carasso Center.
Following the opening session, Dr. Yair Glick, Director of the Carasso FoodTech Innovation Center, presented the Center’s activities and FoodForward – Israel’s Food Hub, highlighting the different ways food companies can collaborate with the Center, access advanced infrastructure, connect with Technion researchers, and become part of the growing food innovation ecosystem being built around the Center.
After the Professional Committee held its meeting at the Center, Roni Gaven, Director of the Technion Innovation & Industry Relations Unit, presented the various interfaces and collaboration channels available for companies working with the Technion. His presentation highlighted the Technion’s ongoing efforts to improve and streamline its engagement with companies and industrial partners.
Prof. Avi Shpigelman, Scientific Director of the Carasso Center, then delivered an engaging lecture on innovation in food processing technologies. Following the lecture, participants joined a guided tour of the Carasso Center’s facilities, gaining first-hand insight into the Center’s diverse capabilities, equipment, pilot-scale infrastructure, and potential for applied R&D collaborations.
The day concluded with lunch, networking, and an open meeting with researchers from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Engineering. The discussion provided an opportunity for industry representatives to share real-world challenges and explore research and development directions that could lead to practical solutions for the food industry.
The Industry Exposure Day with the Food Industries Association at the Carasso Center will continue to serve as a bridge between academia and industry, helping translate scientific knowledge, advanced infrastructure, and technological innovation into applied solutions for Israel’s food sector.
